Childhood cancer is a rare disease with about 1,700 cases diagnosed each year in mainland France (1 out of 440 children will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 15 years).

The most common diagnostic groups are leukaemias (29% of cases, of which 80% are acute lymphoblastic leukaemias), Central Nervous System tumours (25%), and lymphomas (10%).

In France, childhood cancer incidence has been generally constant since year 2000.
